Whangarei, lt!4 for three wickets (Laurie 106. Stevenson 33. Jennings 31), beat High School B, 47 and 57 (Sligo 21, Hawkes 14)- Onerahi, 182 (C. Hewlett 73, J. Broomfiekl 53),• beat Combined Services, 64 (Chitty 25, Wilson 12). The match. Maungakaramea v. Ilierh School A, was not played. OPOTIKT BEATS W AIM AN A [by telegraph—own correspondent! OPC'TIKI, Monday Playing in the first round of the Attrill Cup competition the Opotiki Cricket Club defeated Waimana by 9 runs at the weekend at Opotiki. The bowlers had the upper hand, good averages being shown. In the first innings Opotiki made 65 (O'Sullivan 11, Fisher 12, ICellv 17, Pat.le 12) and in the second 50 (N. Jessop 13, Kelly 11). Bowling for Waimana Menges took eight wickets for 10 runs and three for '.U, Monk two for 11: J. Ruff seven for 23. Waimana's first innings yielded 50 (Menges 25, J. Wardlaw 11) and the second innings 56 (.T. Wardlaw '10). Bowling for Opotiki J. Jessop took tliree wickets for 18 runs and two for 6, II Jessop cnc for 17 and two for 15, Fisher three for 11 and three for 18; L. Kelly one for 2 and threo for 12.
