INCREASE IN CUSTOMS

REVENUE AT AUCKLAND FIGURES FOR TEN MONTHS PETROL RECEIPTS STILL LOWER An increase of £10,365 in revenue from customs duties was recorded in Auckland last month, compared with October, 1931. Tho total was £158,863, as against £148,498 in tho corresponding month last year. Thero was, however, a decrease of £5460, compared with tho figure for September this year, when £164,323 was collected. Tho figures for the first 10 months of tho year show a considerable increase, tho total being £1,626,131, compared with £1,242,589 in tho corresponding period last year, an increase of £383,542. Motor Taxes and Beer Duty A comparison of the total receipts from petrol taxation and tyro duties for the 10 months is made in tho appended table. Motor spirit is calculated at the old rate of 6d a gallon for purposes of comparison, tho additional tax, which goes to swell the Consolidated Fund, being accounted for in the customs revenue.
