NEW ANGLICAN CHURCH
BUILDING AT PUKEKOHE START MADE WITH ERECTION [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday The building of the new Church of England at Pukekohe is being proceeded with. The foundation-stone was laid by Archbishop Averill on August 23 last year, and in the interim finaucial arrangements have been completed to enable the church committee to proceed with the project. A contract has been let at £2832, and the foundations of Hie new building, which is expected to be available for use in about six months, are now being laid. Permanent materials are being used throughout. The exterior will be finished in plain pressed brick, with a tiled roof A feature of Hie interior is to be a buffcoloured glazed brick dado. '1 he design is a. particularly pleasing one, with a style in architecture new to the town. The seating capacity of the new building will be about 155. Provision is made in the plan for an extension when required in the future to increase the length of the nave to 49ft.. giving a seating capacity of 250. The present church is an old wooden structure.
