LIFE OF PARLIAMENT
EXTENSION TO FOUR YEARS PERMANENT CHANGE PROPOSED [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Friday The Electoral Bill, which is to extend tho life of Parliament permanently from three years to four, will be introduced in the House of Representatives next week, according to an announcement made by the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, this evening. The extension of the life of the present Parliament was sanctioned at the session earlier in the year. Interpreting remarks then made as being generally in favour of a permanent extension, Mr. Forbes said he would make provision accordingly. The Labour Party has already intimated that it will exhaust the forms of the House in opposing the measure, so that the bill will probably keep the House occupied for two or three days at various stages. The bill will contain a clause widening the interval between licensing polls from three years to four to synchronise with the general elections.
