CELOSIAS

MANY SHADES OF COLOUR Celosia pyramidal is (feathered cockscomb), in many shades of crimson, yellow, rose, and scarlet and' white, with beautiful feathery plumes borne on stiff upright stems, afford a superb display in separate beds or in groups in the mixed border. They continue flowering throughout the summer and into the late autumn. The variety Thompsohii magnifica, an improved strain containing many pleasing colours, is specially attractive. Start planting celosias early in November. Arrange the plants Bin, apart. The flowers are most useful for cutting and may be treated as everlastings, as they keep and retain their colours for so long a time. They may also be grown successfully in pots. CELOSIA CRISTATA Celosia cristata (the cockscomb) produces large heads or combs of crimson, rose and yellow flowers. They are suitable for either outdoor or pot culture. A good specimen plant should not be more than 9in< high and should be quite as wide over the top of the flower-head, which should be as thick as possible and of rich colour.
