AGENT ADMITS OFFENCE' •• not on large scale " A fine of £3O was imposed on Leslie George Donaldson, aged 33, agent, who appeared in the PoHce Court yesterdaj before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., on a charge of carrying on the business of a bookmaker. Accused was arrested by ActingDetective Moore.. Mr. Moody, who represented accused, entered a plea of guilty. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said a constable observed accused taking notes in an hotel in Freeman's Bay. He had not been able to secure a bet with accused, who, however, lufd a number of betting slips and a double chart in his possession. Accused had been convicted previously for similar offences, but was not operating on a large scale. Mr. Moody said accused was one ot tne smaller men. He had been unable to secure regular work, and had been keeping his widowed mother, as well as sup porting his Wife and two children. Accused was fined £3O. He was allowe seven days to pay.
