THEFT CHARGES ADMITTED
YOUNG MAN SENTENCED THREE YEARS* DETENTION [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday Sentence of three years' reformative detention was imposed by Mr. Justice Ostler in the Supreme Court to-day on Gordon Webb Hazeldine, aged 23, described as a contractor, who had pleaded guilty in tho Magistrate's Court to charges of burglary and theft. The charges against Hazeldine were the theft of £IGOO worth of jewellery and watches from the premises of G. Coates and Company, Ltd., on October 8, the thefy from n house of goods valued at £37, tho theft of clothing valued nt about £lB from a shop and tho theft of a suitcase containing clothing from a parked car. Tho Crown Prosecutor said Hazeldine was an exceedingly dangerous man, who had for a long period made a considerable income by theft and boasted of it.
