VISIT OF MR. COATES

BUSY DAY IN AUCKLAND ADDRESS AT PUKEKOHE A representative gathering, including members of the Reform and United Parties, greeted the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates upon his arrival at Auckland by th« limited express from Wellington yesterday morning. This was Mr. Coates' first visit to Auckland since the Ottawa Conference, at which ho headed tho NewZealand delegation. Among those who welcomed Mr. Coates af, the railway station were Mr. G. IT. Wilson, president, of tho Auckland branch of the Reform League, Mr. John Alexander, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric-Power Board, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, Mr. G. Hutchinson, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, and Messrs. .T. B. Donald, H. I?.. Jenkins, F. 11. Burbush and J. Caughley. Mr. Coates spent tho morning in conference with departmental heads on tho question of unemployment, and in the afternoon received a number of private deputations. At 5.30 p.m. he left for I'ukekohe, where ho \Vas entertained by friends and supporters at dinner. . In the evening Mr. Coates addressed tho farmers and residents of the district in the Pukekoho Theatre, and from there proceeded to Puni, where ho was welcomed by representative settlers, later returning to Auckland. Mr. Coates will leave to-day for his home at Matakohe, whore he will spend the week-end. Ho will return to Auckland on Monday, and in tho evening will be tho guest at dinner of members of the Auckland Club. He will return to Wellington on Tuesday.
