FUNERAL OF VICTIMS

IMPRESSIVE CORTEGE ALL SECTIONS REPRESENTED [by telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON, Friday The funeral of the victims of the air tragedy, Messrs. F. Gresser and G. B. S. King, this afternoon was attended by large numbers and the streets in the vicinity of the mortuary chapel in Taranaki Street were lined with people. Before the cortege left the chapel a service was conducted by the Rev. A. T. Bristed Page, vicar of Miramar, who also conducted • the service at the crematorium. The pall-bearers were members of the newly-formed aviation section of the Legion of Frontiersmen, of which both deceased were members. Members of the legion also furnished the guard of honour. The two caskets were draped with the Union Jack and were almost hidden by flowers. On the top of each hearse was a flower-bedecked miniature aeroplane. About 60. motor-cars formed the cortege. Among those who attended the funeral were the Minister of Defence. Hon. J. G. C-obbe, representing the Government; Squadron-Leader T. M. Wilkes, Director of Air Services, representing the civil aviation branch of the Defence Department; the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, president of the Wellington Aero Club; officials and many club members; members of the managements and staffs of Charles Begg and Company, Limited, and Crawley, Ridley and Company, Limited, employers of Messrs. King and Gresser respectively; the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association and the Wellington branch of the Navy League.
