YESTERDAY'S WEATHER
CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTH Auckland. —Frequent heavy showers in the morning gave place to steady rain which fell throughout the greater pan of the afternoon. After a short fine spell at sunset there was further rain during tho evening. The -weather was oppressive, there being only a very light breeze from the north-north-east.- The barometer, after remaining at 29.75 in. throughout the morning and early afternoon, rose steadily after four o'clock, '{he reading at midnight being 29.85 in. Wellington.—The weather was fine but overcast yesterday with a good deal of mist on the hills. There was a light, breeze from the north. Christ church.—Though the morning was dull the afternoon was bright and sunny with a strong breeze from the norlh-?asw The maximum temperature was 56deg. The barometer had little movement and recorded 29.68 in. at 5 p.m. ' , Dunedin.—Fine sunny weather prevailed yesterday and a fresh breeze from < the north-east was blowing. The barometer fell during.the day and registered 29.70i1t in the evening.
