ORPHANS' CLUB
BIRKENHEAD AND NORTHCOTE Tho ninth annual meeting of the Birkenhead and Northcoto Orphans' Club was held at Birkenhead lust evening. The president. Mr. R. G. Holland, presided. The report referred with much satisfaction to the activities of tho past season, in spite of difficult conditions. Twenty new members (had joined. The programmes arranged by Mr. Peter Black, the club's accompanist, had beon of a high standard and thanks were expressed to him and to the orchestra, under Mr. A. W. Messenger, and to Mr. C. Powell, who for years had given assistance to the stewards. The club was in a sound financial position. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr..JR. G. Holland; vice-presi-dents, the ReV. F. W. Wilkes, Messrs. A. W. Messenger, W. Lilburn, 0. Peace; secretary, Mr. 0. Tarbutt; treasurer, Mr. G. B. Chinnery; chief steward, Mr. A. White; programme steward, Mr. Peter Black; auditor, Mr. J. W. Lethbridge; committee, Messrs. A. Faulkner, H. Hoyland, C. Powell, R. 0. White and J. Williamson.
