TAXI-DRIVER NOT GUILTY
NEW TR'IAL ON LESSER COUNT A-.charge of committing rape at Aucklandton August 13 was preferred against. Kenrteth Alfred Roberts, aged 21, taxidriver (Mr. Sullivan), in the Supreme Court' yesterday, before Mr. Justice Smith. There were further charges of indecent assault and assault. The jury returned after four hours'and announced a verdict of not guilty on the first two counts, and that they could not agree upon the third count, that of common assault. On the application of the J Crown a new trial on the charge of asjsault was fixed for the next sessions. Bail fwas renewed in the sum of £250.
