FREEZING WORKS DISPUTE
HAMILTON MEAT SUPPLY MASTER BUTCHERS' CONCERN [from ouk own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday A letter was received by the Hamilton Borough Council last evening from the South Auckland Master Butchers' Union asking if it would be possible, in view of the fact that there were only two foremen butchers killing at the Horotiu abattoirs and that supplies would be stopped if these men ceased work, to have tentative arrangements made with the Cambridge abattoirs or for the local butchers to have permission to kill privately, subject to inspection in the shops. In reply to a question, the Mayor, Dr. F. D. Pinfold, said he had been informed from Horotiu by telephone that everything was satisfactory. The letter was received, no action being taken.
