NEW TELEPHONE BOOKS
DISTRIBUTION COMMENCED LAST ISSUE OVER A YEAR OLD At last Auckland's well-thumbed and out-of-dato telephone directories may bo consigned to the waste-paper basket, as distribution of tlio new issue commenced yesterday. The previous book was published over a year ago. Formerly the directories were issued at half-yearly intervals, and under that system a now book would have appeared in April of this year. However, as an economy measure, I he Post and Telegraph Department decided to issue tho directories only yearly. New subscribers, some of whom have had to wait about a year for inclusion in the book, have been particularly inconvenienced by the extension of tlio poriod between issues. Rome timo ago it was understood thafc the half-yearly publication would bo resumed.
