MICE-PROOF STACKS

To protect hay against invasion by mice, build the stack about 3ft. from the ground, on a framework supported by posts, over which inverted kerosene tins opened at one end and with the opon end facing the ground, have been placed. The posts are set in square formation sft. apart, and the tins secured to the top and strong bottom cross pieces. At right angles to the cross pieces fix a dunnage layer of strong battens of suitable timber. A stack built on this principle, with a depth of 30yds. and a breadth of 22ft. will hold approximately 100 tons of hay. It is proof from attacks by mice from the ground, but if ladders or other similar articles are left against it the mice will gain access to it.
