MUSICAL AT HOME At the last At Home of tlie Overseas League (lie programme was of special interest to music lovers, Miss Alice Law giving a sketch of tho life and work of Frederic Chopin, " tho poet of the piano." In addition, Miss Law played several of his pianoforte pieces, preceding each one with an explanatory talk about its meaning. Among the compositions so interpreted were the Fantasie Impromptu, Preludes in C Minor and A Major, Yalso in C Sharp Minor, Berceuse, Mazurka in B Minor, Nocturno in G Minor, and Polonaise in A Major. At the conclusion of the programme a hearty vote of thanks was given to Miss Law by the members for her interesting talk and enjoyable playing, after which afternoon tea was served in the dining room by the ladies of the house committee, who were the hostesses for tho afternoon.
