Continuing its innings to-day, after losing four wickets for 74 runs yesterday, Wellington scored slowly, the total reaching 147, 19 runs short of Nelson's ' first innings total. McGirr howled 37 overs, 14 being maidens, and took three ; wickets for 44 runs. Nelson's second innings produced 128 for nine wickets, de-,-1 clared, leaving the visitors 148 to win, 1 an hour before stumps. Trying to force the scoring, Welling- ' ton lost three wick< ts for 92 runs, Allcott batting brightly for 34, not out, including- the only "iixer" of the match, lindall did not allow a single bye in " either innings.
