BOOTS OFF IN THE LIFT
Sir, —Among the many letters that have appeared about "Hats off in tho Lift,' 7 1 noticed ono giving a strong reason for this mark of courtesy. That was a lettor showing how some rude males ecoro tho brims of their hats across ladies' faces —certainly an objectionablo habit. No doubt some of them also stamp on the ladies' feet with heavy boots. Therefore, using tbo same argument, I presume any man with the pretence of being a gentleman would take off his boots before entering a lift, and so on until a bathing suit would bo tho only appropriate clothing. Bootless.
