CRICKET

SEASON OPENS TO-MORROW J EDEN TO PLAY PARNELL REAPPEARANCE OF C. C. DACRE I Present indications point to soft wickets to-monow, when the season of the Auckland Cricket Association will he opened with a full series of senior grade matches. The draw has brought together several good teams and close contests should result. Only two grounds will he available at Eden Park, No J. ground being not ready yet, and this will necessitate one match being played at King's College. The meeting of P>len and Parnell on No, 2 wicket at, Eden Park should provide a fino contest. Both teams appear strong, but Eden should hold the advantage. Y.M.C.A. and University should have a hard-fought match on No. 3 wicket at Eden Park, while the match between King's Old Boys and Por.sonby at King's College should be interesting Considerable interest will centre in the match at North Shore between North Shore and Grafton owing to the reappearance in the former team of C. C. Dacre. ex Auckland and New Zealand representative and Gloucester professional. It should prove a gala day at Dovonport. as Dacre's relations aio combining with the club to give the Gloucester player a suitable welcome ceremony on the ground. Following are the teams:— Y.M.C.A. WAIPA ASSOCIATION [FROM giR.OWN correspondent] TE AWAMUTU,, Thursday The Waipa Cricket Association has six senior teams affiliated this season. The championship competitions commence on Saturday, when Puahue play Rukuhia at Puahue, High School, last year's champions, play Te Kawa at Te Awamutu, and Kaipaki play Lake Road at Kaipaki. Efforts aro being made to arrange with the Te Awamutu Domain Board to improve Albert Park by laying down two. new. pitches, which would enable the association to play practically oil frames on this ground.A new club has been formed at Ppkuru, but it. is not intended to affiliate with the Waipa Association this season, as most, ot the players are novices, but if a junior competition i.o promoted it is probable that a team will be entered. • OTO ROH ANO A ASSOCIATION [FIiOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] OTOROHANGA, Thursday The following officers were elected at tho annual meeting of the Otorolianga.
