SOUTH AUCKLAND DISTRICTS AN ABUNDANCE OF FEED Many districts south of Auckland benefited from warm rain during the weekend. and yesterday. Light showers fell at Pukekohe throughout Sunday. The fall for the week-end, as registered by the primary school gauge, was ,25in. Conditions yesterday were humid and crops showed benefit from Sunday's rain., For the fourth week-end in succession light rain fell in Hamilton, the fall to 9 a.m. yesterday, as recorded at the Ruakura State farm, being :21in. Throughout the Waikato pastures are irt splendid condition. Temperatures have been extrejnely mild. Heavy showers fell at Te Aroha yesterday, refreshing and stimulating pastures, which are already carrying an abundance of feed. Although in many instances the rain has not extended beyond those districts which are in the immediate neighbourhood of the mountains, farmers generally state that the spring is one of the mildest and best w;thin memory. Rain fell in the Tauranga district on Sunday night, the total fall for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. yesterday being ,14in. There has been a splendid growth of grass in the district and dairy herds are now viewing their maximum. As soon as the weather becomes settled the cutting of lucerne stands, which look well, will ha commenced. Welcome rain fell in the Wliakatane district jiuring the week-end, half an inch being recorded for Sunday and yesterday morning.
