HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST OVERCAST, WITH HEAVY RAIN The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—The tropical depression has moved on to the North Island and ft cyclone centre associated with the disturbance is located on the north-west Tasman Sea. The recent high barometric pressure system has passed eastward, and increased in intensity, a fairly steep barometric gradient being thus created. Expect cloudy to overcast weather conditions, with rain generally, heavy in northern and cast coast districts. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times, backing to west. Seas rough. Local outlook: Overcast, with heavy rain. Mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, falling . . 30.001n. Midnight, Saturday 3D.3oin. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 68deg.; minimum, 55deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —The cycolnic depression which was located yesterday over the Tasman Sea is now crossing the southern extremity of New Zealand. A moderate anti-cyclone is following, its centre this morning being over Victoria. Indications arc for strong northerly winds north of Otago, but there will bo a change to southerlics, extending over the Dominion, during the next 24 hours. Seas rather rough to rough generally. In the eastern Tasman Sea, southerly winds boconiing general. Seas rough. The weather will be dull and nnsettlod, with almost general rain, and some heavy falls on the east coast.
