GRIM-FACED FARMERS • DISTRESS IN MANITOBA NON-PAYMENT OF TAXES . PREMIER TO MEET THE MEM By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Keceived October 16, 6.15 p.m.) WINNIPEG-, Oct. 15 Seven hundred grim-faced farmers, some of whom had trekked 700 miles, invaded Winnipeg to-day. They are here to demand that the Government shall save their farms from sei2;ure for the non-pay-ment of taxes. The Premier of Manitoba, Mr.' J. Bracken, has agreed to meet the farmers on Monday. They are encamped in the Labour Hall in the meantime. Sympathisers have plentifully supplied them with food. The Chief of Police, Mr. Newton, ha« forbidden a parade on Monday.:
