JOSEF SZIGETI
NOTED VIOLINIST "An intellectual musician, whose interpretations and charm of tone provide as much enchantment for the ear as his imaginative phrasing provides food for the mind, a virtuoso whose technical equipment is so scrupulously devoted to the service of music that it impresses by inference rather than by actual display, Szigeti is possessed of such great talents that his work both invites and defies analysis." Such is a description of Josef Szigeti, who will give his first Auckland concert on Friday evening next at tho Town Hall under the direction of Hugo Larsen and Company. Auckland audiences will be privileged to hear played by Szigeti the sonata of Eugene Ysaye, for solo violin. The assisting artist is Prince Magaloff, a brilliant Russian pianist and composer. Only three concerts can be given in Auckland, on Friday, October 21, Saturday, October 22, and Monday, October 24.
