REFORM ADVOCATED MOVE BY PROGRESSIVES CURRENCY AND CREDIT By Telegraph—Press Apsociatioii—Copyright (Received October 14. 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, Oct. 13 The Progressives to-day moved a subamendment in the House of Commons to the Adcfress-in-Reply, laying stress on the need for financial reform. The sub-amendment urges that. Dominion control of currency and credit be so exercised as to provide and maintain sufficient purchasing power to raise tho prices of agricultural products and other primary commodities to an equitable level in relation to the cost, of production; to allow of the settlement of outstanding liabilities, public and private; and to .increase consumption, thereby stimulating industry and providing employment; also that the issue of this currency and credit should be based upon the natural wealth and productive capacity of the country, not as, at present, upon one single commodity—gold. Tentative arrangements are for the vote on the amendments and the address on Monday afternoon. The Empire Conference agreements will bo taken up immediately after the division.
