NORTHERN TOURIST ROUTES
Sir, —Tn your issun of October 10 there appeared a report of a meeting of the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce, at which the question of establishing a tourist agency at Whangarei was discussed. Mr. ,T. Rurfoot is reported to have made the following remarks: —"Unfortunately, the Auckland Tourist Office has very meagre information of the North and apparently did not know that the Russell Road was completed, etc. . . I wish to inform your readers that this office has booked a number of visitors liy load from Whangarei to Russell, and vice versa, ever since the road was completed. For verification of this 1 would refer Mr. Burfoot to the Northern Bus Company, Whangarei, who have carried all our passengers and on whom we have issued tickets for this route for some considerable time. In regard to general information of the North, I have to state that this office is in possession of all the essential particulars of motor services, roads, accommodation, scenic attractions, fishing grounds and charges, and, in fact, all information likely to he required by tourists and others. Furthermore, the writer was himself born and reared in North Auckland, and naturally has <1 thorough and comprehensive knowledge of that district. J. W. Clarke, District Manager, Govt. Tourist Bureau, Auckland.
