REHEARING GRANTED
Licensing prosecutions DISMISSAL OF TWO CHARGES A successful application for a rehearing of charges of keeping his premises open for the sale of liquor during closed hours and of selling liquor after closing time was made in the Police Court yesterday by Charles Edward Adams, licensee of the' Empire Hotel. The. offences were alleged to have taken place 011 the evening of Juno 27. Mr. Singer appeared in support of tlie application. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, staled that an appeal to (lie Supreme Court arising out of another conviction relating to tho incidents of the same night had succeeded and Adams 1 conviction had l>een cancelled. Tho Judge had commented on the evidence of one witness who had also given similar evidence in regard to the present charges. In view of the Supreme Court decision the proper course was to allow the rehearing. The magistrate then dismissed the charges.
