TRADING COUPONS ACT
WELLINGTON PROSECUTION PENALTY OF £5 IMPOSED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday A fine of £5 was imposed by Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day, when he convicted Smith's Potato Crisps (N.Z.), Limited, of a breach of the Trading Coupons Act of last year. The charge was one of redeeming a trading coupon otherwise than in conformity with the Act. The case arose out of a competition in which an entry was secured by two empty threepenny Smith's crisps bags. The defence was that the bags were not trading coupons within the meaning of the Act. It was also submitted that there had been no redemption.
