TE RAHU CLUB'S YEAR

TE AWAMUTU, Monday

A sound financial position was revealed by the balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Te Rahu Lawn Tennis Club. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. J. Parr; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. J. Thompson, H. H. Thompson, J R. Flay, B. Bndden and T. Thomson; captain, Mr. A. Bowler; secretary, Mr. C. Redgate; committee. Messrs. T. Flay, A. Bowler. R. Par.-. H. Redgate, and T. Wright, Misses M. Budden, D. Wilson, Muriel Thompson and May Thompson. It. was decided to open the season on October 8.

TAURANGA, Monday

A very successful season was shown by tho report presented at the annual meeting of tho Tauianga Lawn Tennis Club. Reference was made in the report to the death of Mr. R. J. Phclan, and that the committee had donated to the club the R J Phelan Memorial Cup. The membership had been well maintained. The championships resulted as follows:—Ladies: A grade, Mrs. Bullard; B grade. Miss R. Patterson. Men: A grade, A. T. Buxton; B grade, J. Baxter The balance-sheet disclosed a credit balance of £29 15s 6d and the balance of assets over liabilities was given at £20.0 15s 6d. Officers were elected as follows:—President, Mr. R. H. Phelan; vice-president, Mr. D A Ivory: honorary secretary, Mr. A. T. Buxton; honorary treasurer, Mr. K. Taylor; club captain, Mr. L. Simmonds; committee, Mrs. Bullard, Miss Mirrielees, Messrs. C. Steedman, H. P. Butts, D. McShane and R. H. Hay; honorary auditor, Mr. E. J. Baiter, A motion was carried that the club affiliate to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association or to such other body as it might from time to time deem advisable. Mr. R. H. Phelan was appointed delegate to represent the club at the Bay of Plenty Lawn Tennis Sub-association meeting, to bo held at Whakatane on Wednesday.
