CHEAPER PHOSPHATE
BENEFIT TO THE STATE '[by TELEGRAM —OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON. Monday Owing to the effect of exchange and increased output New Zealand will benefit this year to the extent of about £16,000 in the reduced price of phosphates as a result of negotiations between the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. C. E. Macmillan, and the Nauru .phosphate commissioners. Mr. Macmillan stated to-day that that sum would go direct to the Consolidated Fund, aiid to a small extent would bo a set off against tho State subsidy on fertilisers, estimated at £149,000.
