PROPOSED STATE TRANSFER CONFERENCE TO CONSIDER (Received September 25, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept, 25
A conference of transport authorities of New South Wales and Victoria shortly will discuss a proposal to extend tho border .railways agreement in order to permit Victoria to take over and work about 150 miles of New South Wales railways from Tocumwal to Narrandera and district.
If the arrangement is completed these lines will bo changed to the wider Victorian gauge. The locality is considerably nearer to Melbourne than to Sydney. <
Lower freights could bo charged on Riverina produce for shipment overseas if tho arrangement were carried out.
