"Warfare at present is flamijig throughout South America, covering thousands t>f miles of territory.
There is one undeclared war in propress, one civil war and growing ftears pf a third international conflict as a result of Peru's alleged forceable occupation of a Colombian town.
At least 250 Bolivians and Paraguayans pre reported to have been killed in the struggle for the possession of Fort ißoqueron in the disputed Chaco area in the last twp weeks, in spite of continued (diplomatic efforts by neighbouring countries as well as a commission of neutrals at Washington. According to reports 6000 Paraguayans jhave surrounded 2000 Bolivians who are attempting to hold Fort Boqueron. Both countries aro rushing reinforcements to the region for a definite engagement. The Brazilian revolution, which has been in progress almost three months, continues on a large scale. Federal troops report a continued advance, but no decisive action.
Both sides are consuming vast quantises of war supplies imported from Europe pnd the United States.
The boundary dispute between Colombia pnd Peru is growing continually more menacing and a war spirit is raging in fcoth countries.
