NATIONAL PROVIDENT
BENEFITS FROM THE FUND INCOME .FOR THE YEAR The annual report of the National Provident Fund for the year ended December 31 last., presented to Parliament on Friday, shows that contributors to the fund numbered 29,-359. The total income for the year was £470,013, including £248,882 paid by contributors and £170,493 interest. The fund at the end of the year amounted to £3,263,005, an increase of. £326,801.
The benefits paid out of the fund during the year amounted to £188,970, including maternity benefits of £43,582. The rate of interest earned was £5 13s Id, compared with £5 13s 5d for the previous year. The expenses of administration in respect to ordinary contributors to the fund continue to show a satisfactory decrease, the percentage being 19.7, against 20.2 for the previous year.
