COOLNESS IN EARTHQUAKE
GISBORNE HOSPITAL STAFF WORK COMMENDED BY BOARD [BT TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] GISBORNE, Saturday
The members of the staff of the Cook Hospital were warmly commended by the Cook Hospital Board at a special meeting for their courageous behaviour during the earthquake, and for the cool-headed manner in which they relieved the anxiety of the patients.
At the commencement of the meeting the chairman, Mr. J\J- T. Trafford, mentioned that when he visited the hospital directly after the earthquake, unless he had seen the effects of the shock on the chimneys, he would have received the impression that the staff was-carrying out its routine duties.
