BUTTER MARKET QUIET

SLIGHTLY BETTER PRICES f LESS BUYING ACTIVITY

After tho reconfc activity in the butler 'market., quie.tcr conditions ruled last week with a marked diminution in business between agents and factories. During the upward movement which has been consistent over many weeks, buyers were active up to about ll£d f.o.b. for finest for early parcels, but were not prepared to operate forward to any extent. Up to 11 9-16 d was available early last week, but no sales were reported at this figure. Leaders in the trade, at present, are not prepared to make any forecast with an assurance of accuracy.

Reports from agents during the weekend show slightly better prices, New Zealand finest being quoted Is higher on the top price at 114s a cwt.
