LAND SETTLEMENT

WAIKATO SOCIETY'S SCHEME ENCOURAGEMENT IN THE SOUTH [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON", Sunday A statement that he bad received every encouragement from Cabinet Ministers and from prominent financial and business men in Wellington was made to-day by Mr. D. V. Bryant, of Hamilton, when referring to his efforts in connection with his land development scheme. Mr. Bryant returned from Wellington yesterday. He said lie had every reason to believe that practical endorsement of tho scheme would be received from several sources in Wellington. Mr. Bryant said it was the object of the Waikato Land Settlement Society, which is the name under which the schemo is being incorporated, to raise the nucleus fund required in tho Auckland province, and not from other provinces. One exception, however, was made in tho case of Sir William Hunt, who mado a donation toward tho fund as evidence of his endorsement of the scheme. Mr. Bryant said work on tho schemo was proceeding satisfactorily and he had no doubt that the balance of about £5500 required to complete the nucleus fund would be forthcoming. He added that he was grateful to Mr. D. Hay, of Hamilton, who was going to give his services voluntarily for a few weeks to assist the project.
