HANDS ACROSS THE SEA

STORY OF AMERICAN CITY Two hundred years ago some intrepid folk from the ancient City of Salisbury, Wiltshire, set foot upon the shores of America and founded a village, which they named after their beloved home in the Old Country. During tho 200 years the village on the Atlantic coast of Maryland has become a mining city of magnificent buildings and boulevards. In the middle of last month the residents of the American city celebrated the bicentenary of its foundation, and to make tho' festivities complete the American city sent over to Wiltshire a deputation of charming women, whose duty it was to invite the Mayor of Old Sarum to grace the bicentenary celebrations with his presence. The Mayor, Mr. Sidney Rambridge, accepted the invitation, and when the Aquitania sailed from Southampton it carried the Mayor complete with his heavily-insured regalia, and his brother, Mr. Frank W. Rambridge, who represented the English city at the celebrations. They were met at New York by tho Mayor and other notabilities of the Maryland city, and were feted for a week.
