Mr. P. G. Wodehouse has taken an old Provencal farmhouse near Grasse for a year. Other authors who have lived in this part of Southern France are Mr. R. G. Wells, Mr. Michael Arler\, and Mr. Phillips Oppenheim.
Mm© Sigrid Undset, the Scandinavian novelist who won the Nobel Prize Literature in 1928, is to visit the United States. She will probably spend most of her time in the Scandinavian settlements in the Middle West.
Mr. Richard St. Barbe Baker, wlio spent eight years in forestry work in the mahogany forests of Nigeria ana Kenya, has written "Men of the Trees, an unusual kind of travel book. Mr. Baker is one of only two white men who have ever been admitted with full rights and ceremonies as a blood brother of tho tribes.
Mr. Cecil Hunt in an article in tho Daily Mail says that the reading public to-day is saying what it wants, very definitely. It wants story-telling and it wants romance; it wants humanity. Hence several biographies have lately been best-sellers, some scientific works have reached figures at which the novelist gasps, and fiction has begun to take physical exercises, and to bo healthier in consequence.
