COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS
ANNUAL REUNION HELD There was a large attendance of members and friends at the annual reunion of the Auckland Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association last evening. The president, Mr. I. Brown, presided, and among the guests were the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, and Mr. J. F. Ewen, patron of the association.
In proposing the toast of the association, Mr. Hutchison said it was founded in 1913, consisting of 1310 members, and at the present time the number had increased to 2895. He made reference to the good work that subsidiary charitable organisations of the association had carried out, stating that nearly £9OOO had been used to aid blind soldiers and sailors.
Mr. I. Brown, in responding to the toast, said the association had grown infe its present strong position owing to the support received from members. Association members were present at the reunion from * Otago, Canterbury, Hamilton and one from Melbourne.
A presentation was made to a former president, Mr. W. Boak, on his retirement after 43 years' service. He joined the firm of Heather, Roberton, Limited, 40 years ago. In 1920 he was elected as president of the association. A folding-top- desk was presented to him. Mr. J. F. Ewen proposed the toast of past-presidents, paying a tribute to the memory of the men who had guided the association's destinies in past years.
