HEATING OF BUILDINGS
MODERN METHODS DESCRIBED Methods of heating and ventilation of buildings and the advances made recently toward more healthful conditions were described by Mr. Lloyd Mandeno. in a lecture at the .Auckland University College last evening to a combined meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Architects and the University Engineering Society. Mr. Mandeno said that while in the past it had been the aim of engineers to supply air warmed to a certain temperature in buildings, it was now realised that other considerations relating to the comfort and health of the occupants must be considered. Considerable research had been carried out by the British Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and attention was now paid to such other factors as the provision of an adequate degree of moisture in the air, the elimination of dust particles and adequate movement of air. Immediate elimination of carbon dioxide due to breathing had been proved to be less essential than was formerly thought. " Another' factor which has only recently received due recognition is the necessity for avoiding the undesirable combinalion of a warm atmosphere with cold wall surfaces," continued Mr. Mandeno. "These conditions have been shown to account for stuffiness. On tho other hand, when tho reverse condition of a cool atmosphere with radiant heat exists, the most comfortable conditions are experienced." A QUICK RECOVERY FROM 'FLU OR COLD. Long convalescence nfler spring influenza nnd colds is inconvenient and unnecessary. Take Mnlleso, Nature's own Tonic-food, which will assiat you to regain rapidly your normal health. Maltexo will benefit every member of tho family, children nnd adults. Obtainable everywhere, with or without added Cod-Livojr Oil.—Wilson's Maltexo. (Advt.). ,
