TRADE OF CANADA
FAVOURABLE POSITION ( DEALINGS WITH BRITAIN OTTAWA. Sept. 21 The Canadian Bureau of Statistics reports ill at during the 12 months ended August 31, Canada's excess of exports over imports was to the value of 38,684,390 dollars, whereas for the year ended August 31, 1931, the excess of imports over exports was valued at 45,132,042 dollars, and for the year ended August 31, 1930, the excess of imports was 103,506,231. Trade with the United Kingdom was responsible for the favourable balance in the year under review. The value of the excess of exports to Britain over imports was 75,335,916 dollars, with 64,461,488 dollars ifor the previous 12 months. The value of imports from the United States exceeded that of exports to that country in the last 12 months by 8,622,709 dollars, as compared with 170,471,489 dollars for the previous year. The crop year commences with Canada occupying a favourable export jiosition—undoubtedly the best held by the Dominion since 1928, says the Bureau, and is largely due to two main factors, namely, the lack of foreign competition and to price levels being on a sound export basis.
