AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS F. PATON WINS OPEN TITLE Tho Auckland Tnble Tennis Associationheld its annual championships at Taylor Eastbury's Golf School during the week, when approximately 50 plajjers took part in the competitions. A large number of spectators witnessed the games, which at times reached an exceptionally high standard, and, with five tables available, this y-ear's tournament undoubtedly proved the most successful yet held by Ihe association. The open championship was won by P. Paton, of the Unity Club, this being the fifth occasion on which he has won the title, while the ladies' championship was won by Miss Cochrane, also of the Unity Club. The B grade men's championship was won by C. Bourke, of the Post and Telegraph Club, who gave a very sound display in all his matches. Nearly all the. games were evenly contested, probably the most spectacular being the Robins-Storry and the Paton-Storry matches, both of which went to three games. Bockett proved to be in fine form and, while he never looked like beating Paton. beat three formidable opponents in J. Herbert, J. Harrison and M. Withers.
