FINANCES OF ASSOCIATION FUND FOR NEW GROUND YEAR'S WORK REVIEWED A highly satisfactory financial position is revealed in the annual report and balance-sheet of the Auckland Metropolitan Agricultural and Pastoral Association, which will be submitted to the annual meeting next Friday. The reserve account for the proposed new showground is £17.468, while the capital account has a credit balance of £5522. The net loss on the year's operations was £l2B, although the loss on the autumn show totalled £494. The report states that, owing to economic conditions, the council deemed it advisable to reduce the gate charges for the autumn show from 2s to Is. This naturally affected the revenue, but the gate returns were fully maintained and there was a record attendance on people's day. The standard of stock in the various sections was fully maintained. The association co-operated with the Franklin Association to form one district exhibit of export lambs for the Dominionwide competition held by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. Some very fine lambs were forwarded to the Smithfield Market. A class for a porker most suitable for the 'English market was judged at the show and again at Smithfield, the results proving most valuable in demonstrating the requirements of the English market. For the annual Winter Exhibition, expenditure was curtailed as much as possible, but results fully justified the holding of the exhibition. The association acknowledged its thanks to the Manufacturers' Association for its co-operation. The Royal Society did not allot the 1934 Royal Show to Auckland, but it was the intention of the executive to pursue the matter further. A very fine Calf Club was established at Whitford, where there were three stages of the movement in operation—this year's calves, last year's calves and heifers in milk. The heifers were being tested free by the New Zealand Herd Testing Association. An art union was conducted during the year, and as a result, tjie new showground reserve account had been considerably augmented. During the year Mr. H. Builock Webster was made an honorary life member of the association in appreciation of his 50 years of service as a member. The report records the council's high appreciation of the efficient manner in which the managing secretary, Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, carried out his exacting duties during the year. _ ■ The following officers retire this year and are eligible for re-election:—Presi-dent, Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. S. Austin Carr and J. P. Kalaugher; councillors, Messrs. G. Bicker-ton-Fisher, M. B. Kirkbride, W. J. Lopdell, M. G. McArthur, E. D. McLennan, C. R. E. Mackesy, J. Meyer, J. Muir, A. J. Stratford, A. A. Swaffield, F. M. Waters, A. E. Watkins, Jas. Wylie, Jno. Wylie. Nominations for the various offices close to-day.
