MORTGAGORS' RELIEF
COMMISSION IN AUCKLAND CASES FOR CONSIDERATION The adjustment commission for Auckland recently appointed under the Mortgagors and Tenants' Relief Act commenced a sitting at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Tho chairman, Mr. W. H. Lunn, presided, the other members being Mr. C. F. Bennett and Mr. A. M. Goulding. Several cases were dealt with, the. interested parties only being admitted .to tho hearing of each case. About 15 cases have been set down for consideration.
A commission has also been set up for Wellington, the purpose being to assist the Courts in the exercise of their jurisdiction under the principal Act with the object of encouraging voluntary settlements between mortgagors and mortgagees. The legislation passed this year extended the power of the Courts to give relief to_ all- mortgagors, and not only to those with land used mainly or substantially for farming purposes.
