Sept. 20 The Dublin correspondent of the Times states that Mr. de Valera's departure for Geneva seems to have been the signal for an intensification of the Irish Free State's political campaign. Most of the principal members of the Government addressed meetings at the week-end in various parts. In every case they adopted a most uncompromising attitude respecting the land annuities controversy. "No surrender" was the keynote of all the speeches, including that of Mr. Norton, Leader of the Labour Party. The spirit of defiance seems to be hardening. says the correspondent, with the Ministers discarding all pretence of a desire for a settlement with Britain. LAND ANNUITIES SOLICITOR'S DEFIANCE BLUNT- REFUSAL TO PAY DUBLIN, Sept. 19 Mr. T.obert Ileaston, solicitor, of Tipperarv, has written defying the Irish Land Commission to take legal action to collect land annuity payments. The writer Refuses to pay because he nays the members of the commission are solicitors acting for their clients, namely, (he Free State Government, which, as a defaulting agent, has committed a breach of trust by diverting the previous instalments to which Britain was entitled. Dulanty, and Sir Harry Batterbee, representing the Dominions Office, greeted Mr. de Vetera and the two. Ministers accompanying him, and they were met at Victoria station when the party left later to continue their journey.
