OTAHUHU ASSOCIATION > SUCCESSFUL OPENING YEAR A highly satisfactory report of the first year's operations of the Otahuliu Cricket Association was submitted to lite annual meeting at which there was a large attendance of representatives of the nine clubs playing under the association's control. The report staled that nine clubs played throughout the season without default. In all' 212 player-'i were- registered under the association, and three representative matches were played. ....... The formation of an Umpires' Association to work in conjunction with the association was agreed to and a list of umpired was tentatively approved. A suggestion was advanced for the formation of a junior grade among the youths of the churches and beys at the High School. Proposals that the present clubs adopt a youths' team, and that the school authorities bo approached io arrange a competition were referred to the management committee. The Challenge Club offered to lay down a concrete pitch on condition that the association would provide matting, and the offer was accepted. It was reported that there were now three concrete pitches and an endeavour would be made to increase the number, so that competing teams would be playing under the same conditions each week. It was resolved to open the season on October 22. . Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. H. T. Clements; president, Mr. F. W. Grey; vice-presidents. Dr. J. Marks, Dr. J. Lnnge, Messrs. W. Luke. J. Arkinstall, Cassells-Brown. M. J. Barrett, Stewart, N. Spencer, D. Jones, A. E. Walworth, C. Nicholson; secretary, Mr. L. J. Buckley; -treasurer. Mr. O. "Webber; auditor, Mr. R. W. P. Wood; trustee, Mr. J. Simm; management committee, one delegate from each club with the officials.
