MAMOS AND DETTON MATCHED BIG PROGRAMME FOR WALKER The match arranged by the Auckland Wrestling Association for Monday night next will he between Harry Mamos and Dean Detton. Tljis pair were responsible for some thrilling encounters in Sydney recently, the police intervening on one occasion.' Mamos lias made an appearance in the Town Hall ring, where lie recently Tvrestled a draw with George Walker, and on this performance he will be a hard man for Detton to dispose of. The alteration in the rule regarding the use of the ropes appears to be a retrograde step. Wrestlers are now permitted to seek refuge on the ropes as a means of defence, but over indulgence in the practice will lead to the slowing up of matches and consequently making them less spectacular. The Auckland amateur championships will be held next, month, and entries may 'be made with Mr. T. S. Miller at the Professional Chambers, High Street, up to Tuesday week. George Walker is to have a very busy time fulfilling southern engagements dining the next three weeks, and he and Mr. W. E. Grant, who will act as the wrestler's manager, will have to make use of an aeroplane between Wanganui and Gisborne. The matches for which Walker has contracted are:—To-morrow night against Bull Montana, at Wanganui; Friday, against George Thompson, at Gisborne: September 28, against Dean Detton, at Palmerston North; October 3, against George Wilson or Harry Demetral, at Gliristchurch; October 5, against Wilson or Demetral, at Blenheim; October 7, return match with Thompson, at Nelson; October-.10, against Al.
