CHARGE OF THEFT
LABOURER GIVEN A CHANCE "Accused is quite a decent chap and this is his first lapse," remarked Detec-tive-Sergeant McHugh when David George Reece, aged 27, labourer, pleaded guilty in the Police Court yesterday to a charge of stealing an Oregon pine plank and a boat mast, of a total value of £5, the property of B. E. Hart. It was stated by Mr. McHugh that the offence was committed on September 14, the articles being taken by accused from complainant's "bach" at Green Bay. "I will give you a chance," said the magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, in convicting accused and ordering him to como up for sentence if called upon within six months.
