TAURANGA COUNTY ROADS
CONSTRUCTION WORK URGED BUSINESS MEN'S PROPOSALS [from our. own correspondent] TAITRANG A, Tuesday A motion urging the Government to resume construction work on the Ake Ake Road-, the shortest traffic route between Tauranga and Rotorua, was passed at the monthly meeting of the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce last evening. It was decided to make representations to the Minister of Public Works for completing roads in the Whatnkau district in order to open up Crown lands. It was decided to ask the Government to bring down legislation to make all native lands fully subject, to the Rating Act to the same extent as European lands. The Associated Chambers of Commerce are to be requested to support the proposal. The chamber decided to request the Postmaster-General to establish a chief post office at Tauranga.
