THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE COLONIAL SUGARS FIRM An average volume of business was transacted on the Auckland Stock Lxchange yesterday. Sale prices in banks and insurance, which contributed largely to the day's dealing, were easier, but one or two general investments, including Colonial Sugars, registered stronger levels. Steady conditions prevailed in Government loans, with buyers slightly more in evidence than on the previous day.

Inquiry covered a wide range in banks and Australian issues were accorded slightly hotter support. Business was dono in New Zealands 3d lower at 47s 9d, with more available at that price.' Unions, in a transaction at £7 lis, were 6d cheaper. Offers for New South Wales were lifted 10s to £27 without response from holders and buyers also raised thoir limits a shado for Australasias and Commercials. No supplies of the former were quoted, but sellers of Commercials lowered their price a penny to 14s lid. In insurance rates for New Zealands shaded 6d on salo at 435, but support was well maintained throughout the division.

Goldsbrough-Morts continued to make headway and changed bands 6d higher at 25s 3d. The B preference issue of Farmers' Auctioneerings was taken again at 12s. Other sections were quietly steady. Colonial Sugars were lifted 2s 6d in dealing at £46 7s 6d, subsequent inquiry being continued at £46 ss. Holders asked £47 for more. Gear Meats also made better rates, changing hands at 35s 3d, an advance of 3d. A fall of 9d was registered in New Zealand Refrigeratings, which were released at 10s 6d, while the contributing issue was taken a penny firmer at 3s lOd. Taranaki Oils remained well supported at 2s 6d, holders maintaining their quotation of 2s 9d. Leading mining shares registered stronger levels. Buyers of Blackwaters advanced 6d to 19s in response to sellers' quotation of 20s, while for Waihis offers were raised 3d to 16s lid, with holders seeking a penny more. An advance of 6d in offers for Mount secured a selling quotation ad easier at 21s 3d. ' I
