BOY FALLS FROM WHARF
SEAMAN JUMPS TO RESCUE TIMELY ACTION AT ONEHUNGA An unfortunate accident befel a boy, aged about 16, J. Sullivan, of 46 Selwyn Street, Onehunga, early, yesterday afternoon. While riding his bicycle on the main wharf at Onehunga, the boy lost his balance and fell into about 14ft. of water between the fender piles of the pier and the steamer Alexander, luckily not striking the wharf or the steamer. A sailor on the Alexander saw the accident and jumped in and pulled the lad out, none the worse for his experience.
There was a strong tide running out at the time and had it not been for the timely intervention of the seaman, serious consequences might have resulted. The bicycle was recovered at low tide.
